52nd International Durum Screening Nursery
Karim Ammar Thomas Payne (2021, [Dataset])
International Durum Screening Nursery (IDSN) distributes diverse CIMMYT-bred spring durum wheat germplasm adapted to irrigated and variable moisture stressed environments. Disease resistance and high industrial pasta quality are essential traits possessed in this germplasm. It is distributed to 100 locations, and contains 150 entries.
CIMMYT Eastern Africa 2019 Regional Trial Report
MacDonald Jumbo Mosisa Worku Regasa Yoseph Beyene Dan Makumbi Prasanna Boddupalli (2021, [Dataset])
This dataset contains the results from three regional trials carried out in Eastern Africa in 2019. Each report focuses on a different product profile. Two reports present data for product profile EA-PP1, It focuses on includes early/intermediate-maturing white maize with multiple stress tolerance (drought, low N, MLN, MSV, TLB, GLS, ear rots) for the Eastern African rainfed mid-altitude dry/wet agro-ecologies. The third report presents data for product profile EA-PP2. It focuses on late-maturing, white maize varieties with multiple stress tolerance (drought, low N, GLS, TLB, MSV, ear rots, Striga) for the Eastern African rainfed upper mid-altitude region.

Sparse testing can be used in plant breeding and genome-based prediction. In sparse testing not all of the lines are sown in all environments. The phenotypic and genotypic data files provided in this dataset were used to execute an analysis of three general cases of the composition of the sparse testing allocation design for wheat breeding.
Response to early generation genomic selection for yield in wheat
Jose Crossa Susanne Dreisigacker Gregorio Alvarado Jesse Poland (2021, [Dataset])
Genotyping-by-Sequencing data of a training set consisting of 1340 CIMMYT elite lines and a validation set including 1925 F2 individual derived from 38 crosses and 21 parents from the training set.
23rd Karnal Bunt Screening Nursery
Ravi Singh Carolina Saint Pierre (2022, [Dataset])
The Karnal Bunt Screening Nursery is a single replicate nursery that contains diverse spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) germplasm adapted to ME1 (Optimally irrigated, low rainfall environment) with total 50-100 entries and white/red grain color.
30th International Septoria Observation Nursery
Pawan Singh Thomas Payne (2022, [Dataset])
The International Septoria Observation Nursery (earlier Septoria Monitoring Nursery – SMN) is a single replicate nursery that contains diverse spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) germplasm adapted to ME2 (High rainfall environment) and ME4 (Low rainfall, semi-arid environment) with total 50-100 entries and white/red grain color.
28th High Rainfall Wheat Yield Trial
Ravi Singh Thomas Payne (2021, [Dataset])
CIMMYT annually distributes improved germplasm developed by its researchers and partners in international nurseries trials and experiments. The High Rainfall Wheat Yield Trial (HRWYT) contains very top-yielding advance lines of spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) germplasm adapted to high rainfall, Wheat Mega-environment 2 (ME2HR).

Genetic architecture of grain yield (GY) has been extensively investigated in wheat using genome wide association study (GWAS) approach. However, most studies have used small panel sizes in combination with large genotypic data, typical examples of the so-called ‘large p small n’ or ‘short-fat data’ problem. Further, use of bi-allelic SNPs accentuated ‘missing heritability’ issues and therefore reported markers had limited impact in wheat breeding. We performed haplotype-based GWAS using 519 haplotype blocks on seven large cohorts of advanced CIMMYT spring bread wheat lines comprising overall 6,333 genotypes. In addition, epistatic interactions among the genome-wide haplotypes were investigated, an important aspect which has not yet been fully explored in wheat GWAS in order to address the missing heritability. Our results unveiled the intricate genetic architecture of GY controlled by both main and epistatic effects. The importance of these results from practical applications in the CIMMYT breeding program is discussed.
Replication Data for: Genome wide association mapping for heat tolerance in sub-tropical maize
Pervez Zaidi Sudha Nair (2021, [Dataset])
Heat tolerance is becoming increasingly important for maize grown in the spring season in India because heat stress can lead to devastating yield loss. The genotypic data provided in this dataset were used to carry out GWAS analyses on 662 doubled haploid lines to identify SNPs significantly associated with several traits under normal and heat stress conditions .Haplotype blocks associated with yield contributing traits were also identified. The genomic regions detected from these analyses will require further validation before being applied in breeding pipelines..
Daily weather data for International Wheat Improvement Network (IWIN) locations based on AgERA5
Carlo Montes Urs Schulthess (2021, [Dataset])
Daily weather data from 1979 to 2019. The variables included are precipitation (mm), relative humidity max, relative humidity min, short wave radiation (MJ/m2/d), temperature max (°C), temperature min (°C), vapor pressure deficit max (kPa), wind speed 2m (m/s) and wind speed 10m (m/s). Data are world wide with a resolution of 0.1° x 0.1°.
